Michael and Michelle Binkley, sometimes known as “M2s” – are a husband and wife team who have worked together for over 25 years to promote the name of Michael Binkley as one of Canada’s top sculptors. Their story is one wrought with highs, lows, challenges and blessings – all experiences that contribute to the never-ending, forward-moving momentum in the art world.
Michael is primarily a self-taught artist, and creates original stone sculptures based on random ideas that float around his head or from specifications given to him by the collector during the commission process.
Michael has a wide collector base – both nationally and internationally, and carves a wide range of subject matter, from figurative to wildlife to abstracts. The sculptures range in size from the palm of your hand to lifesize (plus) and while Michael carves any stone except soapstone, his favourite is Italian white marble.
By day, Michelle works for Rethink Communications as a Digital Producer. She also helps Michael takes care of business details like promotion, marketing, copywriting, and blogging. Trying new ideas to “get the word out” and curating all of the sculpture shows is something Michelle does with finesse and vision.
Michael and Michelle Binkley created this blog to share some of their ideas and thoughts, and hopefully get people thinking a little differently about three-dimensional art, as it sometimes takes a back seat to two-dimensional art. Look for posts on other art or design related subjects too. If you have a block of juicy text you want to share with our readers, please contact Michael or Michelle as they’d welcome guest contributors.
Michael and Michelle Binkley are always open to new ideas and welcome the process of collaborating to design and create a special, custom-made piece of original sculpture. If you want more information, click on the links to their individual websites, at the top of this page.
